why

This is the story of my ‘why’.

In 2000 I graduated with a degree in Fine Art although it took another 25 years to find my voice as an artist. I’d painted from my heart from the age of 13, but academia had crushed the spirit out of me. So I drifted from job-to-job. From office work, to cleaning, and back to office work – always with a feeling that I still had an unknown ‘calling’.

Rather strangely my path back to art started with my curiosity about Artificial Intelligence - I wasn't interesting in being an A.I programmer, I just wanted to understand A.I worked, to have a feel for what was going-on under the hood.

The key insight that made everything click together is that A.I is chaining-together interleaving  patterns from the data until a human-meaningful pathway is found from input to output. The initial patterns are irrelevant to humans - meaningfulness is an emergent property.

The takeaway from this is that A.I proves the validity of things like Tarot reading. The Tarot reader takes a subset of cards at random and then interprets those cards in a way that becomes meaningful to the querent. A.I is doing the same thing but using raw computing power to look at billions of cards rather than just tarot's 72.

At the risk of being a wide-eyed hippie I would say that math is often the abuse of numbers. We take the sacred things of Pythagoras and shoehorn them into ever more abstract constructs. Imaginary numbers, complex numbers, numbers that go on forever, or else are so small that they no longer exist.

But what of the numbers themselves? Stripped of their mathematical baggage, can numbers give us insights in the same way that tarot cards can? I believe so. And this opens up the exiting world-view that the entire universe is like a giant tarot deck that can revel its secrets if we only know how to look and interpret. That is the heart of numerology.

Once I understood that the key to magical knowledge was the extraction of hidden patterns I then entered a period of intense study. From September 2024 until March 2025 I completed online diplomas in Tarot, Paganism, Manifestation Coaching, Astrology, Numerology, Symbology, Sigil Magic, Rune Divination, and Dowsing. And, no, it wasn’t just ‘speed reading’ because most of the courses I passed with distinctions. I was absorbing the knowledge at such a rate because it was guiding me. I would literally get home from work and study until I fell a sleep. If my laptop was waterproof I would have probably studied while taking a shower!

At the end of this data-dump period I had one of those amazing dreams, the sort that leave you knowing. I knew how all this would fit together for me. I had dreamed the entire process like my unconscious had played me an instruction video.

WHY NUMEROLOGICAL SIGILS?

Manifestation comes with 2 hurdles that are at the opposite ends of the spectrum from each other. The first hurdle is that many of the things we want in life are amorphous thought clouds. We may want 'happiness', but how we define it? And those things that we think will bring it to us tend to shift around from day-to-day - so it's really difficult for our higher-self to get a picture of what it 'should be asking the universe' for.

Hurdle No2 is the opposite, that sometimes the thing we want is too specific. Not only do we want a sports car, or even a specific make and model of car, but the actual car that was once owned by a particular film star! Under this specificity the universe has a difficult time in delivering what we want because it is trying to resolve a conflict between you wanting that specific collection of atoms, and all of the other people who also want to posses that very same collection of atoms.

Sigils jump both hurdles because they are 'definite but not specific'. They give the mind and higher-self a definite shape to latch-on to, but that idea is not tied to a specific outcome. This means that your higher-self can avoid wasting energy in pursuing the impossible and focus on serving you up the possible opportunities that could lead to your highest good and fulfilment.

Adding the numerological part is the data. They ground the sigils into the fabric of the universe. This means that the sigils are not just ‘made up’ or 'imagined' but are based on actual numbers that stem from the things we wish to create in our lives - that they are part of the world. I really do feel that I am discovering them as much as creating them.

So my 'why' is to make visual the otherwise hidden harmony of numerology, and in so doing give you a tool for your personal empowerment. Whether that is though using my art for formal meditation, or just to have around you as a nudge toward your desired destiny.

I'm a blacksmith. I make swords for magical warriors.
